Becoming parents and caring for children does not only imply joy, happiness, love and fulfilment as often portrayed in mainstream media and advertising. Parenting also involves anger, desperation, exhaustion, fear and pain. It includes daily obstacles and challenges, that push the parents to their mental and physical limits and allow them to grow beyond. The responsibility for a tiny human weighs heavily.
‘Becoming Parents’ is an honest photographic work about the transition to parenthood, thus other parents can feel understood. With this autobiographical, ongoing and long term series, I am documenting in a raw manner the entire range of emotions and intimate fragments within everyday family life.
Ongoing series in progress.
